Behavior
Management for the Classroom
The School Version, created with the help of 4 teachers, is designed
differently from the family version, and works great in the classroom.
Points and vouchers are used with the guidelines to monitor and
manage behavior. Teachers can use this system with the entire class
or with only one or two children. Children who are ADD/ADHD and
have special classroom needs benefit greatly from the School Voucher
System. Teachers find the stresses of managing the class are fun
and easy with this program. Less time is spent on discipline and
more time is provided for teaching.
The School Voucher System is best suited for grades K-8.
What It Includes
Parents or teachers can purchase the School Voucher System for classroom
use. Home schoolers enjoy the program as well. The school version
includes, tucked inside a Transparent String Envelope: Guidelines,
and 25 Master Copies of voucher, Kids Sheet, Suggestion Sheet, Home
work Sheet and more. There is a special price when you order the
home version.
About the Home School Version
Home Schoolers save $8.00 when ordering the Home and Home School
combination. Both are needed when home schooling. The Home Version
deals with everyday events like chores and behaviors, while the
Home School version is used in you "Classroom" setting.
The Home School set includes Transparent String Plastic Envelope,
Master copies, a Goal Chart, Point Sheets, Information Sheets and
more. It also includes a demerit system that provides flexibility.
You can mix or match the vouchers system and demerit system to fit
your needs. This Home School version is an excellent way to help
children get their work done, stay on task and keep behaviors in
line.
As a mom who has Home Schooled both of my children, I know what
a challenge organizing time and discipline can be. My problem was
I also enjoyed giving long history lectures and expected them to
listen. I also expected them to get all their work done in a timely
manner, without goofing off.
I developed a system that worked very well for us, which is based
on goal charts, stickers and demerits; which can lead to detention.
When you order the Home School version of The Voucher System, you
get both the sticker version and the Voucher System for Home Schooling.
You have a choice to use either one that suits you, or blend them
however you would like. It comes in a transparent string envelope
with all the sheets you need to use the home School System effectively.
Teacher, Sylvia Wingo, Shares
Her Experience
Last year, I was working in a middle school with
students who had behavioral challenges. They were throwing paper,
using foul language, off-task and defiant to anything and everything
that was requested of them. No matter how creative I managed to
be, these students did not respond to my usual bag of tricks,
which I had accumulated over the past 14 years of teaching. I
was pretty desperate just to bring order to the classroom environment.
I tried a few other behavior plans before starting an Internet
search. I stumbled upon your Web Site then called. You were supportive
and gave the positive feedback I needed to risk a change. I ordered
"The Voucher System for School. I knew it would give me new
direction.
I went over the behaviors and points with the students
after modifying the system to suit my classroom needs. Some of
the points were "gimmies," like having pencil and paper.
I also gave points for managing anger, following directions without
comment, and if a student exhibited a change in behavior I awarded
bonus points. They could earn vouchers for things such as Treats,
Game Time, Free Time, School Supplies, Special Activities and
so on. What I found amazing was how juice and cookies was all
most of these tough boys wanted, or a chance to play a game at
the end of the day. The use of vouchers somehow created an intrinsic
motivation to increase positive behaviors, even when they bottomed
out on a difficult day.
The success rate for my students was pretty amazing,
especially considering that I only had them for 18 weeks and the
first three weeks were spent fumbling with ineffective methods.
Most of the students were mainstreamed into regular education
classes. The real beauty of the system is that even the ability
to earn points in many different ways. The Voucher System is flexible
enough to create success for students on a regular basis. As always,
there were a few students who didn't care about about the points,
or earning them even for positive or academic behaviors. In these
cases, perseverance is the key. Looking for something the kids
want will enable teachers to work more effectively with "The
Voucher System." I had one student who didn't want treats
or any other privileges but to have free time or play a game.
I was able to assist him with the breakdown of inappropriate behaviors
by consistently enforcing consequences while giving him the chance
to earn his favorite vouchers.
I don't know how I would have gotten through the
past year without this behavior management tool. The success my
students and I experienced was directly related to "The Voucher
System."
Sincerely, Sylvia Wingo
